Fixture installation takeoff

Light Fixture Mounting Hardware Calculator

Build a hardware basket for light fixtures from explicit per-fixture requirements. Screws, anchors, washers, bars and other components stay separate so the result can be procured correctly.

Fixture and hardware inputs

Use the approved fixture installation detail for actual fixing quantities. Different fixture weights and substrate conditions can require different mounting arrangements.
Enter fixture count and hardware quantities per fixture.

Hardware calculation

Each hardware line is calculated directly from the fixture count and the quantity per fixture. The spare allowance is then applied independently to each line, which prevents an undersized fastener category from being masked by a surplus in another category.

Item requirement = fixtures × item quantity per fixture
Planning item quantity = ceiling(item requirement × (1 + spare ÷ 100))

Example

64 fixtures with two screws, two anchors, two washers and one mounting bar each require 128 screws, 128 anchors, 128 washers and 64 bars before spares. A 10% allowance makes the respective planning quantities 141, 141, 141 and 71.

Procurement discipline

Keep anchors separate from screws because the substrate can change the approved fixing system even when the nominal fixture count does not.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a hardware quantity per fixture be zero?

Yes, for items that are not part of the selected mounting arrangement.

Can different fixture types be handled?

For mixed schedules, run one line per fixture type and combine like hardware categories during procurement.

Does this verify fixing capacity?

No. It estimates quantities only; structural and electrical suitability must be checked separately.
