Road marker quantity planning
Road Line Reflector Quantity Calculator
Estimate road studs, reflectors or raised pavement marker quantities from the marked-line length and selected installation spacing. End offsets make the first and last marker positions explicit.
Reflector layout
This is a layout quantity estimator. Enter the spacing required by the applicable marking, road authority or project detail.
Enter line length and spacing.
How the marker count works
Usable length = line length − start offset − end offset
Markers per line = floor(usable length ÷ spacing) + 1
Total = markers per line × parallel lines
Planning quantity = ceiling(total × (1 + spare allowance))
Markers per line = floor(usable length ÷ spacing) + 1
Total = markers per line × parallel lines
Planning quantity = ceiling(total × (1 + spare allowance))
Why add one marker?
The first marker is placed at the beginning of the usable interval. The spacing then determines how many additional markers fit before the end.
Separate line types
Centerlines, edge lines, arrows and special markings may have different marker arrangements. Use separate calculations for distinct layouts.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many road studs do I need?
Calculate usable line length, marker interval and number of parallel lines.
Can spacing differ by line?
Yes. Run separate calculations.
Does this select legal spacing?
No. The spacing remains a user-supplied design or specification input.
