Masonry Wall Material Comparison Tool
Compare two wall systems on the same project basis. Enter unit dimensions, wall thickness, unit price and density to see quantity, material mass, wall-area cost and the percentage difference between systems.

What this comparison measures
The tool compares material requirements on a common wall-area basis. Unit face area determines the approximate quantity; wall thickness and effective density determine material mass; unit price determines the entered material cost.
Worked example
If a system uses 215 × 65 mm units with a 10 mm module joint, its unit coverage differs substantially from a 400 × 200 mm block. The two systems should therefore be compared by cost and mass per square metre rather than by raw unit count alone.
Why unit count can mislead
A larger block can require fewer units but still have a higher price per unit. Conversely, a small unit can have a low individual price but require many more units per square metre.
Use the result as a screening comparison
Material cost is only one decision criterion. Labor, reinforcement, finishes, transportation, openings, structural requirements and local construction practice can materially change a project comparison.
Limitations
This is a user-input material comparison. It does not select the technically appropriate wall system and does not replace engineering or project-specific cost estimating.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I compare brick and block?
Yes, using consistent wall-area and unit-price assumptions.
Why compare cost per square metre?
It puts systems with different unit sizes on the same area basis.
Does this include labor?
No.
Does density affect the comparison?
Yes for estimated material mass.
Does this compare structural performance?
No.
