How the Remake Cost Is Calculated

The old jewellery is credited using its fine-gold content and the credit rate you enter. The new item's gold requirement and service costs are then added to determine the net additional amount.

Old Fine Gold = Old Weight × Old Purity ÷ 100

Old-Gold Credit = Old Fine Gold × Credit Price

New Gold Cost = New Gold Weight × New Gold Price

Net Additional Cost = New Gold Cost + Labour + Fees − Old-Gold Credit

Why Remake Quotes Need a Breakdown

A customer may see only one final figure, but old-gold credit, new metal, labour and other charges answer different questions. Separating them makes the economics easier to audit.

Credit Price Is Not Necessarily Your Retail Gold Price

A workshop may value old gold differently from the selling price of new jewellery. The calculator therefore lets you enter the actual credit rate used in the scenario rather than assuming both are identical.

Actual invoices can include taxes, stones, design work or commercial adjustments not represented here.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does old jewellery weight equal its gold credit?

No. Purity must be considered before converting the old item into fine-gold content.

Can the net additional cost be negative?

Yes. That means the entered old-gold credit exceeds the modeled new-gold and service costs.

Does this include gemstones?

No. Stone value and stone-removal adjustments should be handled separately.
