Glazing bead calculation method

4-side perimeter = 2 × (width + height)
3-side layout = 2 × height + width
Planning length = net length × (1 + allowance ÷ 100)
Stock pieces = ceiling(planning length ÷ stock length)

Why bead sides should be specified

Some glazing systems use removable beads on four sides, while other frame details use a different retention arrangement. The calculator therefore models the bead-side configuration instead of assuming a universal frame detail.

Why stock quantity can exceed simple length division

Bead is normally cut into specific side lengths. A supplier length that looks sufficient in total may still produce unusable offcuts. The stock-piece number is consequently a planning estimate, not a two-dimensional or one-dimensional cut optimizer.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this calculate the bead profile?

No.

Can I model multiple frames?

Yes.

Can I add a cut allowance?

Yes.

Does three-sided bead mean three pieces?

The quantity model represents three retained sides; the actual profile and joining detail still depend on the frame system.
