Backup Generator Load-Shedding Schedule Planner — Stage Loads by Priority

Turn a generator's limited capacity into a clear staged shedding plan by ranking loads and showing which groups should remain online as demand increases.

Loads

Priority 1 is essential, 2 is important and 3 is shed first. The schedule is a planning sequence, not a protection or automatic-control setting.
Add loads and assign priorities.

How the staged shedding plan works

The planner first converts the generator rating into an effective operating budget after the reserve margin. It then reviews loads by priority and shows the cumulative demand if each priority group remains online.

Why shedding needs staging

Not every load has equal operational value. Essential controls, emergency systems and critical communications may need to remain online while discretionary loads are removed.

Contingency

The optional contingency increases each entered load so the plan does not rely entirely on exact nominal values.

Schedule interpretation

The result provides cumulative load after each priority group and identifies where the entered generator budget is exceeded.

Limitations

Starting current, motor acceleration, generator transient response and protection settings require separate engineering analysis.

Frequently asked questions

Can several loads share one priority?

Yes. The planner groups them together.

Can the reserve be zero?

Yes, though that uses the full generator rating as the modeled budget.

Does the tool automatically switch loads?

No. It produces a planning schedule only.
