Triangulated measurement

Triangulated Site Area Calculator

Sum measured triangle subdivisions into a total area. Each triangle remains visible in the output so the final result can be audited rather than treated as one opaque number.

Triangle inputs

Enter one base, height pair per line.

Enter triangle base,height pairs.

Triangle area methodology

Each triangle contributes half its base multiplied by its perpendicular height. Adding non-overlapping subdivisions gives the total geometric area.

Triangle area = ½ × base × perpendicular height

Worked example

A triangle with 12 m base and 8 m height contributes 48 m². The calculator repeats that calculation for every entered triangle and sums them.

Important assumption

The entered height must be perpendicular to the selected base. A diagonal distance is not automatically a triangle height.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can triangles overlap?

Not when they are intended as a subdivision of one area.

Can height be zero?

Yes mathematically, but the resulting triangle has zero area.

Must height be perpendicular?

Yes.
