Gold Alloy Metal Requirement Calculator

Calculate how much pure gold and non-gold alloy metal belong in a target batch. Then divide the non-gold fraction among custom metals by percentage.

Pure Gold
Total Alloy Metal
Metal A
Metal B

Gold Alloy Requirement Formula

Gold Fraction = Karat ÷ 24

Pure Gold = Batch Weight × Gold Fraction

Total Alloy = Batch Weight − Pure Gold

Metal A = Total Alloy × Metal A Share

The two alloy-share inputs must total 100% of the non-gold portion. This lets you model a custom two-metal alloy balance without assuming a universal recipe.

Why the Recipe Must Be Explicit

Gold alloy recipes can vary by colour, manufacturing process, hardness, casting requirements and intended application. A generic “18K alloy” recipe is therefore not a universal specification.

This tool calculates mass balance from your chosen composition. It does not certify a metallurgical recipe.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I model more than two alloy metals?

For three or more components, use the composition adjustment and alloy composition tools to build a custom split.

Does the calculator account for process loss?

No. Final batch weight is treated as the target finished mass.

Can target karat be 24?

Yes. The calculated non-gold alloy becomes zero.
