Colour-Gold Alloy Method

Colour naming alone does not define an exact metallurgical recipe. This calculator therefore makes the composition explicit and calculates the mass of the non-gold fraction from the chosen karat.

Fine Gold = Batch Weight × Karat ÷ 24

Alloy Fraction = 1 − Karat ÷ 24

Component Mass = Total Alloy × Component Share

Why Recipes Must Be Treated as Custom Specifications

Gold colour, hardness, casting behavior and finishing requirements depend on the actual alloying metals and processing method. Different manufacturers can use different compositions for the same colour name.

This tool is a composition calculator, not a metallurgical certification or universal recipe lookup.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I model white gold?

Yes. Enter your proposed component split; the calculator does not assume a single universal white-gold formula.

Can I model 14K, 18K or 22K?

Yes.

Do the component shares include gold?

No. They describe the non-gold alloy fraction only.
