Quotation validity control

Gold Quote Expiry Tracker: Know Which Quotations Need Action

Track the stated validity of outstanding gold quotations and see which are active, approaching expiry or already expired. This tool is designed around quotation dates—not live gold-market pricing—so your team can focus on the commercial action required before a quote becomes stale.

Primary intent: track outstanding quotation validity and expiry dates.

Add quotation validity

Important: the expiry date should reflect the validity period stated on your actual quotation or approved commercial policy. This tool does not create a validity rule for you.

Why quotation expiry deserves a separate workflow

Gold quotations often depend on assumptions that can move or expire: quoted metal rates, making charges, stone specifications, production timing, delivery expectations and commercial terms. The quotation itself should define its own validity. The purpose of an expiry tracker is not to guess when a quote becomes invalid; it is to make the stated deadline operationally visible.

A quotation that expires without a clear action can create confusion. A sales person may quote from an older version while production is working from a revised specification, or a customer may assume the previously stated terms remain available. A simple expiry queue helps prevent that handoff problem.

Active, approaching expiry and expired

This tool uses the calendar expiry date you enter. A quote is active when its expiry date is later than today. It becomes expiring soon when the remaining time is within the warning threshold you select. It becomes expired when the expiry date is earlier than today.

The tool does not automatically extend a quotation. Renewal should remain a business decision based on the terms actually approved by your organization.

Example

Suppose a quotation was issued on August 20 and states that the offer is valid through August 27. If today's date is August 25 and the warning threshold is three days, the quote will appear as approaching expiry. That tells the sales team to decide whether to contact the customer, confirm whether the customer is ready to proceed, or prepare a revised quotation if the original terms can no longer be offered.

Useful renewal notes

  • “Confirm whether customer still wants the same weight.”
  • “Recheck approved making charge before reissue.”
  • “Customer requested two additional days.”
  • “Waiting for final stone selection before renewal.”

What this tool intentionally does not do

It does not invent a gold-price movement, estimate how much a quotation should change, or decide whether a quotation remains commercially acceptable. Those actions require your pricing policy and current approved data.

Data storage

Entries are stored locally in the browser using localStorage. This makes the tool convenient for an individual operator, but it is not a replacement for a centralized ERP, CRM, accounting system or document-management system. Keep official quotations and business records in the system your organization uses for that purpose.

Methodology

Remaining validity is calculated as the whole-calendar-day difference between today and the entered expiry date. No market-price assumptions are introduced. The warning threshold only controls how early the interface highlights a future expiry.

Frequently asked questions

What is a gold quote expiry tracker?

It records a quotation's issue date and stated expiry date, then shows whether the quotation is active, approaching expiry or already expired.

Does the tracker decide whether an expired quotation should be renewed?

No. It highlights the timing and lets the user decide whether the quotation should be renewed, revised or closed according to the business's pricing and commercial policy.

Does this tool know current gold prices?

No. It tracks dates and quotation values entered by the user and does not represent a live bullion-price system.
