Generator + UPS coordination

Generator + UPS Coordination Planner — Match Backup Power Stages

Check whether your UPS autonomy provides enough bridge time for generator startup, stabilization and transfer before the critical load must be supported by the generator.

The timing model checks the entered bridge interval. Actual generator/UPS integration depends on controls, transfer equipment, generator loading and equipment-specific sequences.
Enter UPS, generator and transfer timing.

Why the UPS bridge time matters

The UPS and generator perform different jobs during an outage. The UPS can carry the critical load while the generator starts, stabilizes and transfers the load.

Bridge requirement

The planner adds generator startup, stabilization and transfer intervals to produce a simple bridge requirement.

UPS runtime margin

A UPS may technically cover the bridge but with very little margin. The remaining autonomy after the modeled transfer interval is therefore shown separately.

Generator capacity

The generator is checked against the critical load after applying the user-selected reserve margin.

Limitations

This is not a generator synchronization or automatic-transfer-system design tool. Real systems need manufacturer and project-specific sequence information.

Frequently asked questions

Can the generator start in zero seconds?

Yes mathematically, producing a bridge requirement based only on the other entered intervals.

What if the generator is too small?

The result flags insufficient effective generator capacity even if the UPS bridge is adequate.

Does this account for battery aging?

Not directly. Enter a conservative usable UPS energy figure that already reflects the planning condition you intend to use.
