Generator Oil-Service Interval Planner
Track generator engine hours against an oil-service interval and estimate when the next service becomes due using expected operating hours per day.
Calculate the next oil-service point
Oil-service timing
How the oil-service calculation works
The tool starts from the engine-hour reading at the last completed oil service and advances by the selected service interval. It then compares the current hour reading with that next threshold.
Next service hours = Last service hours + Service interval
Hours remaining = Next service hours − Current engine hours
Date estimation
The estimated date converts remaining runtime into days using your expected operating hours per day. This is a planning date, not a manufacturer-required calendar date.
Use the correct service interval
Oil-service requirements depend on the engine and manufacturer instructions. Enter the interval applicable to the specific generator rather than treating the example value as a universal requirement.
Limitations
- The planner tracks operating-hour service only.
- Calendar-based oil-aging requirements are not automatically modeled.
- Operating hours per day are assumed constant.
- Actual maintenance records should remain the source of truth.
FAQs
What if current hours are already past the next service point?
The tool moves the due point forward by whole service intervals until it identifies the next point above the current reading.
Can daily runtime be very low?
Yes, but the calendar estimate will then move farther into the future.
Does this tell me which oil to use?
No. Oil specification is manufacturer- and engine-specific.
Does the date replace the hour meter?
No. Runtime should continue to be tracked because the actual engine-hour reading determines service timing.
