Overload event analysis

Electrical Overload Event Analyzer — Measure Severity and Recurrence

Separate steady circuit loading from short overload events by measuring how far current exceeds the circuit reference and how often those events occur.

What makes an overload event important

Overload assessment should consider magnitude and duration together. A large current for a very short interval is a different event from a smaller overload that persists for minutes.

Severity

Overload severity is shown as event current divided by circuit reference current. The percentage above 100% makes the degree of exceedance easy to understand.

Recurrence

Five events every week become about 260 events per year. Repetition can make a pattern operationally important even when each individual event is brief.

I²R consequence

When circuit resistance is known or modeled, the tool can estimate the extra resistive loss caused by current rising above the normal condition.

Limitations

Electrical heating, insulation, protective device behavior and conductor temperature require additional information and should not be inferred from this simple model alone.

Frequently asked questions

Can the normal current be zero?

Yes. The overload event then represents the entire measured current during the event.

Does exceeding 100% prove a fault?

No. It only means the entered event exceeds the chosen reference current.

Can recurring events be tracked annually?

Yes. Weekly frequency is converted into an annual exposure count for planning.
