Circuits to compare

The threshold is a comparison setting. High utilization does not by itself establish a safety or compliance conclusion.
Enter circuit ratings and operating loads.

Why utilization is useful

Comparing absolute current alone can hide the difference between circuits with different ratings. Utilization expresses each load as a percentage of its own entered capacity.

Example

A circuit carrying 12 A against a 16 A rating is at 75% utilization, while 12 A against a 20 A rating is 60%. The first circuit therefore ranks higher even though the current is identical.

Why rank circuits?

A fleet-level view helps maintenance and planning teams find where the largest modeled margins are being consumed rather than reviewing circuits in an arbitrary order.

What the threshold does

The threshold highlights circuits you may want to review under your chosen planning approach. It is intentionally user-controlled rather than presented as a universal electrical rule.

Limitations

The tool does not evaluate conductor condition, phase balance, protective devices, voltage drop, fault conditions, transient demand or local installation requirements.

Frequently asked questions

Can different circuit ratings be compared?

Yes. Each circuit keeps its own rating and is ranked by utilization percentage.

Does the top-ranked circuit need replacement?

No. Ranking simply identifies the highest modeled percentage for review.

Can I use measured loads?

Yes, provided you understand what operating condition and time period the measurement represents.
