Electrical loss mapping

Electrical Loss Allocation Analyzer — Find Where System Losses Are Going

Enter the known losses of cables, transformers, switchgear or other system sections and rank them by contribution so improvement effort can focus on the largest modeled loss sources.

System loss sources

Enter actual or modeled loss power for each source. This analyzer compares the values you provide; it does not calculate the component losses from electrical design data.
Add at least two loss sources.

Why loss allocation is useful

Total electrical loss is much less actionable than knowing which component contributes most. Allocation turns a system-wide number into a ranked list that can guide investigation.

Loss power versus loss energy

Loss power is the instantaneous or representative loss value entered in watts or kilowatts. Annual loss energy multiplies that value by operating hours.

Contribution percentage

Each source's share is calculated against the total entered loss. This avoids assuming that every component has equal improvement potential.

Scenario planning

Change one source at a time to see how a hypothetical reduction changes the overall loss profile. This is often more useful than comparing isolated component values.

Limitations

Loss estimates depend on operating conditions. Variable loads, temperature and intermittent equipment should be represented by appropriate average or interval values.

Frequently asked questions

Can I enter transformer and cable losses together?

Yes, provided the values represent comparable operating conditions and time basis.

Does the tool calculate efficiency?

No. It allocates the loss values you enter and converts them into energy and cost.

Can one loss source be zero?

Yes. It simply contributes zero to the total.
