Ceiling grid module planning
Ceiling Grid Cross Tee Calculator | Count & Module Layout
Estimate cross tees from the two room dimensions and selected ceiling module. See the geometric tee count separately from any ordering allowance.
Grid inputs
The calculation models repeated cross members for a rectangular grid. Actual tee arrangements, perimeter cuts and connector details depend on the selected grid system.

Cross-tee calculation method
Length bays = ceiling((length − 2 × edge) ÷ module)
Width bays = ceiling((width − 2 × edge) ÷ module)
Estimated tees = length bays × max(width bays − 1, 0)
Width bays = ceiling((width − 2 × edge) ÷ module)
Estimated tees = length bays × max(width bays − 1, 0)
Why a module does not automatically equal tee count
The module defines the grid geometry, while the number of repeated cross members depends on how many bays are created between the runner lines. Keeping both quantities visible helps prevent confusion between “grid module” and “number of pieces.”
Ordering allowance
A small allowance may cover cutting and damaged pieces, but it is not a substitute for an optimized takeoff based on actual stock lengths and manufacturer's system details.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does this calculate main runners?
No.
Can I use 600 mm and 1200 mm modules?
Yes.
Can the perimeter edge be different?
The current model uses one common edge allowance around the rectangular room.
Does the result prove the grid will fit?
No. Verify the actual perimeter and panel-cut strategy separately.
