Tray support layout

Cable Tray Support Count Calculator

Generate a practical support count from maximum spacing, route length and end offsets, with the actual approximate support positions shown.

Support layout inputs

Distance from route start to the first planned support.
This planner uses your entered maximum spacing. Verify actual support spacing, loading and structural span limits against the tray manufacturer and project design.
Enter tray run and support spacing.

Support-count methodology

The planner reserves the entered start and end offsets, then distributes supports through the remaining route so the spacing between adjacent supports does not exceed the maximum spacing entered.

Available interval = run − start offset − end offset
Intervals = ceiling(available interval ÷ maximum spacing)
Support count = intervals + 1

Why positions are included

Knowing “33 supports” is useful for procurement, but a position schedule is more useful for marking and installation. This page therefore shows each position measured from the route start.

Edge case

If the route is shorter than the combined end offsets, the inputs are rejected rather than silently creating an impossible layout.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the first support always occur at the entered start offset?

Yes, this planning model places the first support there and then repeats at an even interval no greater than the entered maximum spacing.

Can I use a very small spacing?

Yes, but the number of supports can rise quickly.
