Cable Pull Section Length Checker

Check each proposed pull section against a maximum length you define for the current planning exercise. Sections at or below the limit pass the length check; longer sections are flagged for review.

SectionLengthDescription

What this checker answers

The tool answers a narrow planning question: which individual pull sections exceed a user-selected maximum length? It is deliberately a checker rather than a location planner.

Calculation

Every section is compared directly with the entered limit. A section passes when its length is less than or equal to the limit. A section is flagged when its length exceeds the limit.

Why a user-defined limit is used

Actual acceptable pull-section limits depend on cable characteristics, route geometry, conduit configuration, pulling method, manufacturer guidance and project requirements. The tool therefore does not fabricate a universal threshold.

Worked example

With a 30-unit limit, sections measuring 18, 29.5, 30 and 36 units produce three passes and one flagged section. The 30-unit boundary passes because it does not exceed the selected limit.

Relationship to pulling calculations

Length alone does not prove that a pull is feasible. Pulling tension, sidewall pressure, bend geometry and cable-specific factors may still govern the installation. This checker is only one screening step.

Common mistakes

Do not enter mixed units. Do not treat a planning threshold as a manufacturer's recommendation unless it actually comes from the selected product or installation method. Check the route geometry separately.

Safety and limitations

A flagged or passing length result is not an approval of a cable pull. Use project-specific engineering checks before installation.

Frequently asked questions

Does exactly the maximum length pass?

Yes. The checker flags only sections longer than the entered maximum.

Can the maximum be changed for another project?

Yes. It is explicitly configurable.

Does this calculate pulling tension?

No. It checks section length only.
