How to use this calculator

  1. Enter the expected sale price and the item’s acquisition/preparation cost.
  2. Use Channel A for the first option. Open Advanced channel settings to enter Channels B and C.
  3. Compare net profit and proceeds, and verify each channel’s current fee schedule independently.

How the estimate works

Compare the same expected item sale price across channels to isolate cost differences. For a complete channel decision, also account for likely sale price, time to sell, return handling, customer quality, and labor.

Percentage fee inputs should include the commissions and payment fees that apply to the transaction. Fixed costs, advertising, shipping subsidies, and return allowances are entered separately to keep the cost picture transparent.

Frequently asked questions

Does the calculator know current marketplace fees?
No. You enter the percentages and charges. Check each platform’s current terms before relying on the result.
Should I compare different sale prices by channel?
For a complete decision, run separate scenarios with realistic channel-specific prices. This screen uses one shared price to compare the fee structures fairly.
What belongs in the return allowance?
Use an expected cost for refunds, disputes, return shipping, or claims based on your experience.
Is net proceeds the same as profit?
No. Net proceeds are after channel costs; profit also subtracts the item acquisition and preparation cost.
Does a low-fee channel always win?
No. Audience size, selling time, negotiation, buyer trust, shipping risks, and achieved price can outweigh a small fee difference.
