How buckle position works
- Short end controls where the buckle sits on your wrist
- Shorter short-end → buckle moves toward the hand / wrist bone
- Longer short-end → buckle moves toward the centre or elbow side
- Long end provides the holes and the tail that tucks into the keepers
- Ideal pin position is usually the middle holes (3–5 of 7)
A well-fitted two-piece strap has the buckle roughly centred under the wrist and 1–2 free holes on either side of the pin for adjustment.
Typical size ranges
Short≈ 105–110 / 65–70 mm · best under \~16.5 cm wrist
Regular / Standard≈ 115–120 / 70–75 mm · most common
Long≈ 125–135 / 75–85 mm · larger wrists or more tail
These are typical leather / rubber two-piece ranges. Always check the exact listing. NATO and one-piece straps use different sizing.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I measure my wrist? Wrap a soft tape (or string + ruler) where you normally wear the watch. Do not pull tight.
What does 115/75 mean? Long end 115 mm (holes) / short end 75 mm (buckle side). Buckle length is usually not included.
Can I change buckle position later? Only by choosing a different short-end length or having a custom strap made.
What about deployant clasps? Deployant / butterfly clasps use different geometry. This tool is for classic pin-buckle two-piece straps.
