Texture Coating Quantity Calculator
Estimate decorative texture coating from net wall area, product coverage, coats, texture-depth adjustment and application allowance. The calculator makes the assumptions visible so a material takeoff is easier to review.

How texture coating consumption works
Texture coatings are highly application-dependent. The starting point is the product's stated coverage or consumption for the relevant finish. A deeper or heavier texture may consume additional material.
Base material = net area × coats ÷ coverage
Adjusted material = base × (1 + texture adjustment)
Planning quantity = adjusted material × (1 + application loss)
Worked example
For a 20 × 3 m wall with 8 m² of openings, the net area is 52 m². At 3 m²/kg and one coat, the base demand is 17.33 kg. A 15% texture adjustment followed by an 8% application allowance increases the planning requirement accordingly.
Why texture profile matters
A smooth decorative skim, fine sand texture and heavy build texture can have very different consumption rates. A generic square-metre rate should therefore not be treated as universal.
Openings and details
Deduct only surfaces that will not receive the coating. Returns, reveals, columns and small detail areas can still require material and may increase cutting or application losses.
Procurement guidance
For a real project, use the product technical sheet or a controlled sample-panel test when practical. Record the substrate, application tool, desired texture and coverage observed so the final order is based on the actual system rather than an unrelated generic rate.
