Drywall Waste Offcut Planner | Reuse Before You Scrap

Screen a pile of drywall offcuts against one common required piece size. The tool checks both orientations and reports how much of the offcut area appears reusable under the stated dimensions.

Offcut and reuse requirement

This is a geometric reuse screen. It does not inspect edge damage, screw holes, moisture exposure, minimum joint requirements or whether the offcut is acceptable for a particular location.
Enter offcut and required-piece dimensions.

How offcut reuse is estimated

The calculator tests both rotations of the offcut and required piece. It then uses the orientation producing the larger integer piece yield.

Pieces = floor(offcut length ÷ piece length) × floor(offcut width ÷ piece width), tested in both orientations.

Why reuse classification is useful

A simple “waste percentage” does not tell a site team whether an offcut can be used tomorrow. This planner turns dimensions into a practical screening decision while keeping the geometric assumptions visible.

Cutting reality

Real cutting patterns become more complex when multiple required sizes are available. A full cutting optimizer can combine different pieces; this page intentionally stays focused on one reusable target piece.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can an offcut make more than one piece?

Yes.

Does orientation matter?

Yes. Both orientations are checked.

Does the tool prove the offcut is installable?

No.

Can it optimize several target sizes?

No. Use one target-piece scenario at a time.
