Door weather sealing
Door Sweep Length Calculator for Multiple Doors
Calculate total door-sweep material from door width, quantity, optional side projection and cutting allowance. The result separates per-door length from the total procurement length.
Door sweep inputs
The side-extra input represents the total extra sweep beyond the door width. Use the actual manufacturer's profile or field-measurement requirement where the sweep differs from the door leaf width.

Door sweep calculation
Sweep / door = door width + extra length
Net total = sweep / door × door count
Planning total = net total × (1 + allowance ÷ 100)
Stock pieces = ceiling(planning total ÷ stock piece length)
Net total = sweep / door × door count
Planning total = net total × (1 + allowance ÷ 100)
Stock pieces = ceiling(planning total ÷ stock piece length)
Why the extra length is visible
Some sweep installations use a component that is cut close to the door width, while others allow a small projection beyond the leaf or frame. Treating that amount as an explicit input avoids hiding a procurement assumption.
Replacement versus new installation
For replacements, measure the existing door leaf and inspect how the current sweep terminates. The calculator estimates material quantity, not compatibility with a specific door system.
Worked example
Eight doors are each 900 mm wide, with 10 mm extra length and 5% cutting allowance:
Per door = 0.9 + 0.01 = 0.91 m
Net = 0.91 × 8 = 7.28 m
Planning = 7.28 × 1.05 = 7.644 m
Net = 0.91 × 8 = 7.28 m
Planning = 7.28 × 1.05 = 7.644 m
Frequently Asked Questions
Does this calculate the sweep profile?
No.
Can several doors be included?
Yes.
Does it account for cutting waste?
Yes, through the allowance input.
Does this prove a weather seal is adequate?
No. It is a quantity-planning tool.
