Scenario A
Scenario B
Scenario C
This tool uses an energy-percentage model. Actual battery autonomy can differ because usable capacity changes with discharge rate, temperature, age and battery controls.
Enter battery energy and three reserve scenarios.
How reserve autonomy is compared
Each scenario calculates the energy available between the starting SOC and the reserve SOC, then applies the entered discharge efficiency before dividing by load power.
Why reserve level changes runtime
A higher reserve leaves more energy untouched, reducing available runtime but preserving a larger emergency energy buffer.
Why load matters
For a constant load, doubling the load approximately halves runtime in this simplified energy model.
Frequently asked questions
Can reserve SOC equal starting SOC?
Yes. That scenario produces zero available energy and therefore zero runtime for a positive load.
Can the load be zero?
Yes. The mathematical runtime is then unlimited, although the system still has auxiliary consumption in reality.
