Antique Mall Commission and Net Payout Calculator
Use this settlement-style calculator to estimate how much of a month’s booth sales is left after mall and payment costs. It keeps sales tax collected for remittance separate from dealer revenue because tax collected from customers is generally not earnings.
Calculator
Enter your figures below. Results update from the assumptions you supply; check your agreement, fee schedule, and local requirements before making a decision.
How to use this tool
- Enter sales before sales tax, then choose whether the mall charges percentage commission, a fixed fee, or both.
- Enter processing fees, rent, and any other authorized deductions. Enter the sales-tax rate separately to estimate the amount to set aside.
- Review each deduction and the estimated payout. Change commission structure values to match the written mall agreement.
Calculation method
Mall commission follows the selected arrangement. Processing = pre-tax sales × processing rate. Estimated dealer net = pre-tax sales − commission − processing − rent − other deductions. Sales tax collected = pre-tax sales × tax rate and is displayed separately, not counted as earnings.
Worked example
If pre-tax sales are 2,000, the mall charges 12% commission and rent is 500, processing is 3%, and other deductions are 25, net dealer earnings are 1,175 before any costs of acquiring the antiques. A 7% sales-tax estimate would be tracked separately as 140 collected.
Important assumptions and limitations
- Use the exact commission base in the agreement: some malls calculate commission before discounts, after discounts, or on different transaction categories.
- Sales tax rules vary by location and item. This tool only estimates a tax set-aside using the rate you enter.
- Inventory acquisition cost is not included unless entered under other deductions; net payout is not the same as profit.
Frequently asked questions
Is payout the same as profit?
No. Payout is the settlement after the fees entered. Your acquisition costs, restoration, travel, and income taxes may still need to be considered.
Why show sales tax separately?
Tax collected for a tax authority should generally be tracked as a liability rather than business revenue. Confirm your local rules.
Can a mall charge fixed and percentage fees?
Yes. Choose the combined option and enter both components if the written agreement allows both.
Should payment fees be calculated on tax-inclusive sales?
The calculator uses pre-tax sales for clarity. If your processor charges fees on tax-inclusive amounts, adjust the input or calculation to match your statement.
What if my settlement has other deductions?
Enter only agreed, documented deductions and compare the generated breakdown against the mall’s settlement statement.
