Motor Annual Energy Consumption Estimator — Forecast kWh From Real Loading
Estimate annual electricity use from motor output, average loading, efficiency and operating hours. Add a tariff to see the corresponding annual electricity cost.
Annual motor energy inputs
How annual motor energy is estimated
Average useful output equals rated output multiplied by average loading. Dividing that output by efficiency produces modeled electrical input power. Annual energy then equals input power multiplied by operating hours.
Why annualized estimates are useful
Motor energy consumption is often dominated by operating hours and average load. A rated power label by itself does not tell you how much electricity the machine actually consumes during the year.
Tariff scenarios
The optional price-growth input does not predict future tariffs. It simply shows how the same energy consumption would accumulate under a user-defined price-growth scenario.
Worked example
A 45 kW motor at 65% average load and 93% efficiency has an electrical input of about 31.45 kW. Over 4,500 hours, the estimated annual consumption is about 141,525 kWh.
Limitations
Seasonal operation, changing loads, maintenance shutdowns, variable-speed control and changing tariffs are not automatically modeled.
Frequently asked questions
Can the load vary through the year?
Use a representative annual average or split the project into separate calculations for distinct operating periods.
Does efficiency stay constant?
The calculator treats entered efficiency as constant for transparency.
Does the price-growth figure represent a forecast?
No. It is a scenario assumption chosen by the user.
