How the calculation works
Each pad is modeled as a rectangular prism. Multiply length, width and thickness, then multiply by the number of identical pads. The allowance is kept separate so procurement assumptions remain visible.
Base volume = L × W × T × quantity
Planning volume = Base volume × (1 + allowance ÷ 100)
Planning volume = Base volume × (1 + allowance ÷ 100)
Worked example
A 2.0 × 1.5 × 0.15 m pad is 0.45 m³. At 5% material allowance, the planning quantity is 0.4725 m³.
What this does not cover
Reinforcement, anchor design, bearing capacity, equipment loads and structural thickness should be addressed separately.
