Gold Production Weight Formula

Finished Weight = Starting Weight × Yield %
Weight Loss = Starting Weight − Finished Weight
Weight Per Unit = Finished Weight ÷ Production Quantity

The calculator treats the entered yield as the proportion of starting mass expected to remain in the specified finished output.

Production Yield Is Not Gold Purity

Yield describes a mass relationship between input and output. Purity describes the proportion of gold within the material. A high production yield does not necessarily mean the finished product has high gold purity.

Use a separate purity or assay calculation when composition needs to be determined.

Planning Jewellery Production

Production weight estimates can help with batch planning, expected inventory, material requirements and finished-unit projections. Actual results should always be checked against measured production weights.

Why Actual Output Can Differ

Casting, cutting, filing, polishing, finishing, sprues, residues and other process factors can change the final mass. Therefore an assumed yield is a planning input rather than a guarantee.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I calculate expected gold production weight?

Multiply starting material weight by the expected yield percentage.

What is production yield?

It is the proportion of input mass expected to remain in the specified output.

Does yield equal purity?

No. Yield and purity measure different properties.

Can this estimate jewellery production output?

Yes, when a realistic expected yield is available.

Is the calculated weight guaranteed?

No. Weigh the actual finished production.
