Gold Metal Replacement Calculator

Model a simple one-for-one substitution when one alloy component is replaced by another. See the exact mass transferred and the percentage impact on the target batch.

Replacement Method

Replacement Mass = Old Metal Mass × Replacement Ratio

Mass Difference = Replacement Mass − Old Metal Mass

Replacement Volume = Replacement Mass ÷ Replacement Density

A ratio of 1 means equal mass replacement. A different ratio can be used when your process specification deliberately calls for a mass-adjusted substitution.

Mass Replacement Is Not Chemistry Replacement

Replacing one alloy metal with another by equal mass does not imply equivalent colour, hardness, melting behavior, density or metallurgical performance.

This is a mass-accounting calculator, not a formula for approving a new alloy chemistry.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why include density?

Replacement density can help estimate the volume occupied by the replacement metal.

Can replacement mass exceed the original?

Yes, when the replacement ratio is above 1.
