Electrical Load Addition Impact Calculator — Measure One New Load
Planning to add one major appliance, charger, machine or other electrical load? See the exact modeled change rather than looking only at the final total.
Enter the existing system and one addition
Why incremental impact is useful
Many electrical decisions are about a single change: adding a charger, heat pump, machine, heater, server rack or kitchen appliance. The incremental contribution often tells you more than a generic total-load result.
The three numbers to watch
Added current shows what the new equipment contributes. Projected current shows the new total. Remaining margin shows how much of your selected planning ceiling survives the change.
Percentage impact
The result also shows how large the addition is relative to the existing modeled demand. That percentage is descriptive, not a regulatory threshold.
Example
At 230 V and 0.95 power factor, a 1,200 W load corresponds to approximately 5.50 A. Two identical units would contribute approximately 11.00 A under the same simplified assumptions.
Limitations
Startup current, duty cycle, phase arrangement, voltage drop, installation method and protective-device requirements can alter the real-world design. Use this as an impact screen, not a final approval.
Frequently asked questions
Can I add several identical devices?
Yes. Enter the single-device load and change the quantity.
What if the existing demand is zero?
The percentage increase is then not meaningful, so the calculator reports the absolute addition without inventing a percentage.
Can I use VA?
Yes. Select VA when that is the basis of the available equipment information.
