Mastering the 10x10 Grid: Polyomino Packing, Cross-Clear Combos & AI Heuristics
Unlike falling-block games where gravity forces pieces downward under time pressure, Block Crunch 10x10 Grid Puzzle is a pure spatial-reasoning and combo-management challenge. Each round deals a tray of 3 polyomino shapes (ranging from 1Γ1 single dots and 2Γ2 squares to 3Γ3 L-corners and 1Γ5 long bars). You must place all 3 pieces onto the 100-cell board before the next tray of 3 pieces is dealt.
Whenever any horizontal row of 10 cells or vertical column of 10 cells is completely filled, all blocks in those lines shatter simultaneouslyβeven if a single piece completes 2 rows and 2 columns at the same time (a 4-Line Cross-Clear!).
How to Use the AI Best-Move Solver & Tactile Powerups
- Live Green Line-Shatter Preview: As you drag any piece across the 10Γ10 grid, our engine simulates the drop in real time. If your current hover position will complete one or more full rows or columns, those entire lines light up in glowing emerald green before you lift your finger or mouse!
- AI Best-Move Hint (`π‘ AI Best Move [H]`): Unsure which of your 3 tray pieces to play first? Click the AI Hint button (or press `H`) to run a 100-cell heuristic search across all remaining tray pieces. A pulsing golden target outline will appear on the exact grid coordinates that maximize line clears while protecting your 3Γ3 survival space.
- Rotate Tray (`π Rotate Tray 90Β° [R]`): Stuck with a vertical 1Γ5 bar when you only have horizontal space? Use a Rotate charge to spin all remaining pieces in your tray by 90 degrees clockwise.
- 3Γ3 Crystal Smash (`π¨ 3Γ3 Crystal Smash [B]`): Instantly shatters the 9 central blocks of the board (`rows 4β6, columns 4β6`) in a shower of crystal particles to rescue a crowded endgame board.
Multi-Line Combo Scoring & AI Board-Evaluation Heuristic Equations
S_clear = N_blocks Γ 10 + ( L_lines Γ (L_lines + 1) Γ 50 ) Γ C_streak
β’ 1 Line Clear at 1Γ Streak = +100 pts | 2 Lines (Double) at 5Γ Streak = +1,500 pts!
β’ 4 Lines (Mega Cross-Clear) at 10Γ Streak = +10,000 pts!
2. Heuristic AI Board Evaluation Function V(B) Over All Valid Placements (Row/Column Transitions T, Open 3Γ3 Zones Z_3x3):
V(B) = ( +450 Γ L_cleared ) + ( +180 Γ Z_3x3_available ) - ( 35 Γ H_isolated_holes ) - ( 12 Γ T_fragmentation )
Complete Polyomino Shape Catalog & Danger Ratings
| Polyomino Shape Family | Blocks (Cells) | Grid Footprint | Board Survival Priority & Pro Tip |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Giant 3Γ3 Solid Square | 9 Cells | 3 Γ 3 Box | HIGHEST DANGER: Always keep at least one 3Γ3 zone open! |
| 2. Big 3Γ3 L-Corner | 5 Cells | 3 Γ 3 L-Frame | HIGH DANGER: Nest into board corners to build 2 perpendicular lines. |
| 3. Long 1Γ5 & 1Γ4 Bars | 4 β 5 Cells | 1 Γ 5 or 5 Γ 1 | COMBO TRIGGER: Ideal for slicing through 4 or 5 parallel rows at once. |
| 4. 2Γ3 Rectangular Brick | 6 Cells | 2 Γ 3 or 3 Γ 2 | MEDIUM DANGER: High point value (+60 base); place flat against walls. |
| 5. Classic Tetrominoes (T, L, Z, 2Γ2) | 4 Cells | 2 Γ 2 or 2 Γ 3 | WORKHORSE BLOCKS: Use to fill jagged step patterns without leaving holes. |
| 6. Mini 1Γ1, 1Γ2 & 3-Cell Corner | 1 β 3 Cells | 1 Γ 1 to 2 Γ 2 | STREAK SAVERS: Save small pieces to plug the final 1-cell gap in a 9/10 line! |
