Block Adhesive Coverage Calculator

Estimate block adhesive quantity from net wall area and the manufacturer's coverage rate or bag yield. Keep the product yield, waste allowance and required bags visible so procurement is based on explicit assumptions.

Calculate adhesive requirements

Use the manufacturer's actual published basis.
kg per bag, needed for kg/m² mode.
Reference only; does not override manufacturer coverage.
Coverage varies with block surface, joint thickness, trowel or applicator, substrate preparation and product formulation. Use product documentation for final procurement.

Two common coverage bases

Manufacturers may state consumption as square metres per bag or kilograms per square metre. The two bases are mathematically compatible when the bag mass is known.

Bags = area ÷ m² per bag
Net mass = area × kg/m²
Planning bags = ceiling(net quantity × (1 + allowance))

Worked example

For 100 m² and a product that covers 6 m² per bag, the theoretical requirement is 16.67 bags. With an 8% allowance, the planning quantity becomes 18.00 bags, so 18 full bags would be ordered.

Why joint thickness should remain explicit

Thin-joint adhesive systems can be sensitive to application thickness. A thicker-than-intended layer can increase consumption. This is why the tool shows joint thickness as a reference while keeping the supplier's stated coverage as the controlling input.

Limitations

This calculator does not determine adhesive quality, bond strength or correct application thickness. It converts the product coverage assumption into a procurement quantity.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much adhesive do I need per square metre?

Use the manufacturer's published coverage or consumption for the actual product and installation system.

How many bags are needed for 100 m²?

It depends on the stated bag coverage.

Does joint thickness matter?

Yes, but manufacturer consumption data should control.

Should I add waste?

Yes when a project-specific allowance is appropriate.

Can this choose an adhesive product?

No.
