How the 10-Voice Synthesizer & Edge-to-Edge Fullscreen Stage Work
This browser piano combines a multi-oscillator Web Audio synthesizer with an edge-to-edge fullscreen stage layout built for mobile touchscreens and desktop monitors. Instead of loading bulky external audio files, every note is mathematically synthesized in real time using custom harmonic partials, biquad low-pass filter sweeps, and dynamic amplitude envelopes.
Using Fullscreen Landscape & Portrait Modes
Fullscreen Landscape Mode: Click Fullscreen Landscape to hide all secondary sliders and stretch the 25-key two-octave keyboard across 100% of your screen. On phones held vertically where the browser blocks hardware orientation lock, the stage automatically rotates 90 degrees so the piano spans the full height of your display.
Fullscreen Portrait Mode: Click Fullscreen Portrait for vertical two-thumb play. All settings panels collapse and the piano switches to a tall, finger-friendly 13-key single octave (C to C) that fills your vertical screen with zero scrolling required.
Quick Top-Bar Switching in Fullscreen: While in fullscreen mode, a compact dropdown and Octave/Sustain buttons appear right inside the thin top header so you can change instruments or shift octaves without leaving fullscreen.
1. How do Fullscreen Landscape and Portrait modes work on mobile and desktop?
Clicking Fullscreen Landscape or Fullscreen Portrait collapses all secondary settings panels and expands the piano keybed to fill 88% of your screen height below a sleek, single-row top control bar. Landscape mode provides 25 keys across the wide screen edge, while Portrait mode provides 13 large, thumb-friendly keys.
2. What are the 10 sound voices included in the synthesizer?
You can switch instantly between Studio Grand, Bright Concert Piano, Electric Rhodes Tine, Soft Felt Calm Piano, Harpsichord, Cathedral Pipe Organ, Warm Analog Synth Pad, Music Box Celesta, 8-Bit Chiptune, and Plucked Acoustic Harp.
3. How does the Sustain Pedal button change the sound?
Turning on the Sustain Pedal button locks the damper release time to a resonant 3.8-second decay (similar to holding down the right damper pedal on an acoustic grand piano), letting arpeggios and chords blend richly together.
4. Can I slide my finger across the keys to play a glissando?
Yes. Holding down your mouse button or dragging your finger across adjacent white or black keys triggers a smooth glissando across the keyboard.
5. How do I use the Scale Guide Overlay?
Choose a scale from the Scale Guide dropdown (such as C Major, A Natural Minor, Pentatonic, or C Blues). Purple markers will appear directly on every piano key belonging to that scale so you can improvise without hitting off-key notes.
6. Where are my recorded phrases stored?
Your recorded notes and millisecond timing intervals are stored strictly in temporary browser memory for your current session. Nothing is uploaded or saved to any external server.
