A quiet toy for people who love colour
Colours of Colour is a calm, goal-free toy. Translucent glass papers float on a soft backdrop. Slide them over each other and watch new colours appear where they overlap, while a gentle paper rustle follows your hand and each new sheet lands with a soft chime. Move your pointer or finger and the papers shift slightly at different depths, which gives the flat canvas a layered, 3D feel.
How to use it
- Tap an empty spot to add a glass paper there. Each one plays a note from a calm pentatonic scale.
- Drag a paper to slide it. Faster movement makes a louder rustle. Let go and it glides to a stop.
- Tap a paper without moving to turn it a little.
- Pick a palette, then switch between Glow and Daylight mode to change how the colours mix.
- Turn on Soft hum for a low background tone, and use headphones for the full ASMR effect.
Two ways colours mix
| Mode | What the papers act like | What overlaps look like |
|---|---|---|
| Glow (dark) | Beams of coloured light that add together | Brighter, lighter, almost luminous where papers meet |
| Daylight (light) | Tinted cellophane or vellum that filters light | Deeper, richer colour, with a soft shadow beneath each paper |
Frequently asked questions
Is Colours of Colour a game?
No. There is no score, timer, level or goal. Stay as long as you like and stop whenever you like.
Why do the colours change where papers overlap?
In Daylight mode each paper absorbs part of the light passing through it, so two layers look deeper and more saturated. In Glow mode the papers add light instead, so overlaps get brighter.
Why is there no sound until I tap?
Browsers only allow audio after a tap or click. Touch the canvas once and the sounds begin.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. It is built for touch, and the canvas resizes to fit your screen. Full screen mode gives the calmest view.
