Calculator

Enter the details you know. Optional advanced fields are kept separate so the main calculation stays easy to use.

Negotiated trade value for the incoming antique.
Negotiated trade value for the outgoing antique.
Known or estimated repair allowance on incoming item.
Delivery, documentation, cleaning, or other agreed costs.
Advanced options and comparisons
Positive if you pay the other party; negative if the other party pays you.

How to use this calculator

  1. Enter each item’s agreed trade value, not simply its original retail asking price.
  2. Add incoming repair allowances and transaction costs.
  3. Use the suggested balancing amount as a discussion figure and confirm payment direction in writing.

How the estimate works

The calculation uses the agreed values entered by both parties. It does not estimate authenticity, rarity, condition, insurance value, or fair market value.

Repair allowances and transaction expenses reduce the incoming item’s effective value. If repairs are uncertain, run low, expected, and high cost scenarios before settling.

Frequently asked questions

Does this calculator appraise antiques?
No. It compares values that you and the other party enter.
Should I use asking price or sold price?
Use a consistent basis agreed by both parties. Realistic completed-sale evidence may be more useful than unsold asking prices.
Why are repairs deducted from the incoming item?
They are future costs you expect to bear after receiving the item.
What does a positive value difference mean?
After entered costs, the incoming side has a higher value than the outgoing side, so the other party may need to pay a balancing amount to you.
What if both items are difficult to value?
Agree on ranges, document condition and provenance, and consider an independent specialist opinion before completing the trade.
