Antique Collection Handover Ledger

Create a practical, item-by-item record when an antique collection changes hands, moves between family members, enters storage, or transfers to a new custodian. Capture identifiers, observed condition, documents supplied, and follow-up work without turning the ledger into an appraisal or ownership instrument.

Transfer checklist

Mark only what was actually checked or exchanged; the checklist does not replace a signed agreement or specialist condition survey.

Good handover practice

Identify without overclaiming

Use an established inventory number where possible. Describe material, form, marks, and components as observed. Record attribution, date, and ownership claims only with their source attached.

Record condition as a snapshot

State when and how an item was viewed, what was not inspected, and whether packaging limited access. Use photographs or a specialist report as separate referenced records rather than implying that this ledger authenticates an object.

Protect sensitive details

This browser-only worksheet may include personal and collection information. Avoid shared/public devices, export only to a secure location, and use a formal agreement for legal title, value, insurance, or loan terms.
