Antique Collection Climate Reading Log
Build a simple, dated record of the conditions around your collection. Track temperature, relative humidity, and light readings over time, flag values against limits you choose, and export the log for a conservator or facilities conversation.
Set your monitoring context
Use the same instrument, location, units, and approximate time when comparing readings. These user-defined limits are reminders, not universal conservation standards.

How to use a climate log well
Keep readings comparable
Place a sensor away from direct sun, vents, radiators, exterior doors, and the object surface. Note its location and use consistent intervals. A single number is a snapshot; a dated sequence helps reveal swings and recurring patterns.
Interpret trends carefully
Temperature and relative humidity interact, but the material, condition, construction, and display context matter. Record excursions and surrounding events rather than treating an alert as a diagnosis. Check instrument calibration and follow collection-specific advice.
Escalate concerns appropriately
Persistent or rapid changes, active leaks, condensation, mold-like growth, or new material movement deserve prompt review by a qualified conservator or building professional. This log stores your entries locally in this browser and is not a preservation prescription.
